No power adder.
Nothing over 355 c.i.
I want to know how fast a L98 can go without mega-major mods.
Thinking of buying an 89' Iroc, or at least I want one.

What kind of TPI? LTR, miniram, stealthram, super ram? That comes into play. Traxion is almost at 11.99 IIRC. He has a pretty nice 350. His success is due to his skills at prom burning i am sure. There are guys on here that should be faster IMO, but they just are not! And the funny part is that they have larger displacement engines. try the reader rides too, can come up with some decent info over there. And yes, the nagging is pretty gay! good luck

I'm going for 11.9's N/A this year, 10.9 on a 150 shot. As mentioned earlier, tuning is important. I ran 12.3 last yr with no tuning.

I think that Mike holds the record (in my book) running 11.8's with a very streetable, mildly cammed 355. That was with stock rims (no drag rims), full interior, etc. Very impressive!
I'm hoping for 11's this year with my NA 350 (never rebuilt!).

through 2 rebuilds, a quick 0.0005" hone has
cleaned things up and still running standard
4.000" forged slugs.. 8-)
IMHO There's so many variables, no one can ever say
what's faster,etc.. Someone could gut a 305 car to 2500lbs and run faster...

I still think that "You da Man" Mike! Running a whimpy cam with stock AFR heads, on the 350 that still weighs a good deal! 11.8's is nice!!!!

Tim Burgess who?
I don't know how much he reads this board so lets talk trash behind his back. Is it a 3.74 bore 305, or a preston smith 4.025 305? After that shenanigan all the fast '305' guys are in question IMO.

I'ts a genuine 3.74" bore 305 LB9....with the stock 1.84 / 1.50 heads - ported, of course! The short block is original & has 160K miles on it & runs high 11's with 125 shot NOS & high 12's N/A. I'm using the TPIS Super Profile L-98 cam w/ 1.6:1 roller rockers & the TPIS Big Mouth, lg tube runers, etc. Just busted my rear end (pinon gear is now missing 2 teeth) & T5 trans (lost 2nd gear synchro) - it's about time! They are being replaced with a Moser 9" with 35 spline axles & a Detroit Locker & a Richmond 6 speed trans....
The car used to weigh 3400 lbs with me in it, but now it's going to be 3500 lbs, after the rear end & trans swap.
Check out this link for all that had to be changed to make them work....and they're "bolt in" replacements - hummmmm

Thought it was time for me to chime in. I'm hoping to go low 11's this year if my 6psi ATI ever showes up.

Well, wish me luck...I'm hoping for 11s NA on my ZZ3 shortblock by the end of this summer too. I just got in my Stealth Ram and XE 230/236 cam...gotta be able to do it consistently and keep up with those LS1s, so that's why I'm ditching my Superram and 219 cam combo. I'm going all out this time by porting my AFRs, long tubes, blah, blah....

In any case, I stand by what I said - it's still a whimpy cam. 218/228 is whimpy. The 'manly' range starts at about 224 on the intake. This has absolutely nothing to do with how good a cam is. The HOT cam is a great cam, produces very nice numbers, is extremely streetable, etc. But, it's still whimpy. Don't forget that I ran a 218/224 cam for awhile.Tim

Yea, 230/244 is manly. I am slightly more manly with my 230/245 with an xtreme lobe on the intake that yields more area

Bite my nutz Ed!

Depending on how things go I'll be fixing my brakes this weekend. I can't drive it until I fix the brakes. Gotta install my Earl's braided brake lines and flush the 13 year old brake fluid with some Valvoline Synthetic fluid. Also need to take care of the glazed front pads/rotors. Then I'll be driving it more ... of course, the bald drag radials don't help in terms of the 5.0 scoping out people to pull over

Mike. Nice numbers!! was that stealth ram or TPI? My motor is a 355 with AFR 195'2 224/230 xtreme grind, with 10.4 compression. long tubes, 3.73's Edebrock base ported(not siamesed) SLP runners siamesed at the top, siamesed plenum, 52mm TB and Nittos. I have NO tuning(starting this weekend), but want to get in the 11's.
Thanks

The HSR ran low 11.9s all day and the 11.83
after a cool down..
Don't know how Nittos compare to BFG-DRs, but I could
never get the DRs to hook consistantly with the TPI.
The HSR rolls off enough low-end to keep the DRs
happy..
Good luck on your quest for 11's, you'll just start looking
at 10's once you get there... 8-)

Well if things workout this spring I'll be singing the 11 sec song along with Mike and Traxion. Have to get to a dyno for P.E. tuning. Also by the time I get to go to the track I'll have all of my suspension stuff done. Waiting for spohn to make ali the goodies. I'll pick them up on the 29 of this month $702 dollars worth.
