intake base comparison needed

I searched this site, but didn't "readily" find an answer to this. Can somebody provide a comparison between Edelbrock/Accel/TPIS Bigmouth intake bases? They are all comparably priced so I'm wondering which has the best volumetric efficiency. I can't find CFM info for these anyplace. Thanks in advance for anybody who knows this.

IMHO, the Accel and TPIS bases are more
refined (QC) and are ported for high flow.

The Edelbrock base may be a little rougher
and you would have to port it yourself for
max flow. (The price should reflect this IIRC,
the Edelbrock was $100 less than the others?)

Usually you get what you pay for, sometimes not. Probably all good units, but I hear Edelbrocks Q.C. leaves a bit to be desired.
I'm wondering which flows best / is best too. Anybody know this, man?

Posts over at corvetteforum.com have said that the accel and TPIS flow about the same, with the accel having the advantage of containing enough material to be ported even further.

I agree, that is what I have read. It was a couple bucks cheaper to get the base from TPIS this one time. I usually hate purchasing anything from TPIS, they are too expensive for what they have.

It's no secret that the TPIS base is a ported edelbrock unit.

The TPIS base comes with a stock intake port size. You have to pay $80.00 extra to get a 1205 port size. The Accel base comes with a much better port size. Why spend 400-500 dollars for a stock port. Just my .02

A long time ago, when I was shopping for an intake base, I e-mailed TPIS and asked them what set their Big Mouth base apart from the Edelbrock and Accel pieces. Their response was basically that I would have a hard time telling the difference between the three. I posted their response on the board - it is probably in the archives somewhere. I don't think they liked that - they stopped answering my e-mails after I did it.

I don't like TPIS either. I have the Edelbrock base - I have no complaints.

I got these numbers off the corvette forum.

TPI, stock base, stock runners, 48mm - 185 cfm
TPI, Accel base, large tubes, lots of porting, 52mm - 212 cfm

SuperRam with unported Edelbrock base, 52mm tb - 224 cfm
SR with unported Accel base, 52mm tb - 233 cfm

Next Both bases were heavily massaged, with mild port work to the runners.

SR with Edlebrock base, 58mm tb - 256 cfm
SR with Accel base, 58mm tb - 259 cfm

Lots of porting,

SR with Accel base, massive work throughout - 278 cfm.
