HELP? will 89-92 tpi throttle body work on 88 older tpi?

Guys, will an 89-92 TB work on an 88 or older TPI setup? Is there a difference in them? I thought the only differences was in the MAF vs speed density stuff. Help please. Looking to buy a TB but want to make sure it will work on my car first.

Don't quote me on this, but I think there are only subtle differences between the years. If you are asking if it will bolt up, yes it will. Will it run? yes. Will it run properly? I don't know. Try running a search because I believe this topic has been brought up before. Hope that helps.

No problem... I just looked at some of summit's throttle bodies they carry, and they are listing different part numbers for those years... maybe there is a bigger difference, but I'm not positive. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I'm wondering if the differences are in vacuum ports, etc. Aren't the pre-'88 cars MAF and the '89-'92 cars speed density?

I thought '90-92 were SD and '89 older were MAF, but I could be wrong. The tech at summit seems to think that's the reason why they are different. I know that there IS a difference in them, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is.

You can connect the throttle cable for your 85-88 to the 89-92 throttle body where the cruise control should go. Or you could just go buy a throttle cable for a 89-92 car.
