Questions on improving throttle response on my TPI

Hi all, I read through the FAQs and searched, I couldn't really find anything relevant to my question.

Here's something I'd like to do. I want to improve my car's throttle response, because frankly, the throttle is very sluggish unless I'm travelling at a speed where there's a lot of air flowing into the engine bay, or if the outside air temperature is very cool and moist.

What can I do to improve throttle response on my car so that the car reacts faster when I press the accelerator? The car's in the sig.

Thanks!

Jason

Do you just have a K&N air filter or are you running some kind of cold air intake? I put an SLP Cold Air kit on my car and it made a noticeable difference. Also I have heard that a TB coolant bypass makes a difference.

The big thing is that our cars don't have enough air if your running TPI. Any mods that increase air flow will give you better throttle response. Cleaning and checking your IAC valve will have some effect if there is something wrong with it.

Do a tune up. If your car is functioning properly, it will have a very fast, crisp throttle response. Don't confuse a lack of power with poor throttle response.

I agree. Getting your car tuned up makes alot of difference. Even when my car was bone stock (well except for the exhaust) My TPI always had a smooth throttle response.

On a more serious note, a sticky / dead IAC valve will definitely affect throttle response in a big way even on an otherwise 'perfectly' running engine.

My IAC issue still hasn't gone away, and I've found that if I blip the throttle really quick, it stumbles momentarily then revs fast. If I do it a little slower, it responds fine.

that seems to be true on my roc's as well. car drives normal and performs great. hmm.... maybe because they are MAF cars?

My MAF car does not behave like that.
