Hey, welcome to the boards!

Well, I will be the first to let you in on a little secret... thoes hypertech chips and jet chips and whatever... they are 100% crap. Thoes companies do very little to the chips. They usualy just advance timming near WOT and thats it.. A custom made PROM is what you want if your gunna get the max out of an intake/cam swap. Now, I have not yet dipped into this part of modding, but Im gunna have to soon as I want to max out my head/cam/exhaust/intake swap this summer. People say its easy to learn how and very cheap. For about the price of a hypercrap chip, you can get your very own set up. Im sure tons of othere people are gunna come in here and tell you the same thing. Good luck and happy modding!!

Agreed. Save your money and get into eprom burning instead. It is easy, and the money you would have spent on a Hypercrap chip will go a long way for paying for the equipment.

And here's the first 175lbs of those tons. Yes, definitely learn how to do your own.

I've looked at those "Hypercrap" chips on my Tuner software and Alex is absolutely correct. They only fiddle around with WOT a little because that's the only way to keep it smog legal.

When you do your own chip, you can get it exactly the way you like it. Granted it'll take a little time to learn it all, but in the end you'll be way ahead.

I'm sure it will help. Simply lean out the mixture a little as well as reduce ignition timing at idle and 2500 rpm. This will lower your CO, HC, and NOx output. In California, these are the two operating conditions they inspect at.

However, make sure you set your base timing (at the distributor) to the factory 6° BTDC and fuel pressure at 35 psi, and make all of your adjustments in the ECM.
