Anyone using TPIS large tubes

I have had nothing but trouble trying to get them sealed at the base manifold. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. The gasket surface for sealing at the base is only 1/8" wide around the tube openings when using the large gasket set supplied by TPIS, which you have to use. I very carefully applied silicon on the gasket and put it together but still have vacume (air leaks). I even made a thin tube extension for my silicon gun to apply more silicon around the base and tube.
If anyone has figured a way to seal these things, please let me know

thanks.

OK, I'll find the stuff you mentioned. The mating flanges are milled flat, the problem is the tubes are so much larger in diameter than the stock tubes that there is very little mating flange left.
Do you have a set of TPIS large tubes?

I ran a set of Arizona Speed & Marine large tube runners for a while, and honestly I wouldn't recommend them now.

Incremental upgrades to the long tube runner TPI system just don't add much HP, big leaps like a Stealth Ram or Mini-Ram are where you start getting return on investment.

For not much more than the big-tubes you can get a Stealth Ram.

I agree with you but in California you have no choice with our smog laws, and the large tubes don't stand out enough to get caught. I am also using TPIS big mouth base which is smog legal in CA.
Thanks for the response.

Uh, that was kind of a jab, given the super-strict emission laws you guys have...more like what you'd see in totalitarian/Marxist type governments than in the US...

Sheeeeit... I have no trouble running fast and passing CA smog. Of course, high 12's isnt really fast but 12 second ET's and 20+ MPG out of a daily driver is pretty good in my book.

I have the TPIS LT runners and TPIS intake manifold and I have no problems with them.

Large tube runners on a stock base is your problem. You will see larger gains & better fitment if you upgrade the base.

I appreciate all the responses to my question. I am not using a stock base, I am using the TPIS big mouth base.

If some of you are not having air leaks, then I guess I just did a bad job putting them together. I will take them off and try again.
CA smog rules do suck..... And it does seem like we live in a different country!!!!
thanks again everyone....
