I have looked at all the fel-pro individual gaskets on summit but they all say "not for 87-up Iron heads"
What is the deal?
Also I still want the EGR to function so the exhaust crossover must be open...

'89 engine...083 heads L98 cast iron.
I just went and bought a stock gasket set from Advanced Auto Parts. The intake gasket was a Felpro...but I don't know the part number. Haven't matched it to the intake yet. The gasket was bigger than my stock port entry...so, take that for what its worth. I opened the intake port on the head up. I'll just make sure my actual intake manifold port exit is smaller than my gasket.

Just ordered 1205's for mine. Wonder why they won't work w/ iron heads?, I have l98 iron. They don't have the heat crossover, but I am using a stealth ram, so that doesn't matter. Guess I'll find out when they come in. Anyone know why they wouldn't work???

You could open the bolt holes up, but the reason they are like that is that 1205s are intended for a larger runner head, i.e. my Sportsman IIs. When i lined up the 1205 on the runners on my heads, the intake won't even seal to them.

well I ordered the 1205s and I guess I will just enlarge the center 2 bolt holes and punch out the exhaust crossovers.
That picture you included TPIgirl is exactly what I needed -- thanks.
