Question about My engine and HSR
I have the 300hp gm crate motor (before vortec heads).

I'm putting an HSR and SLP 25lb injectors on my 87 T/A. I know the cam on the engine is mild but do you think this will work O.K. I have a buddy who's gonna help me burn a prom. I'm not sure if I can swing the $$ for a new cam and head work.
I'm hoping for a low 14 or high 13 sec 1/4 mile. My 84 ran a 14.06 with the same engine and a CCQjet. So I"m hoping for about the same 1/4 mile times.
The car also has 3.73's headers and exhaust.

The heads on the my engine are casting #083 based off the cast iron L98 heads but with the 86 and older intake pattern. I already know it's gonna bolt up no problem since I have the HSR.
I'd just like to know if I can get away with just keeping the cam. Since my budget to swap the engine from my wrecked 84 to my 87 T/A is kinda small.
Here's the specs .435in/.460ex 212/222dur and 112 ls
Thanks
Frank

I guess I 'll find out soon enough how it's gonna work. If the power comes on like the LT1 in my moms 93 Formula I'll be happy.

You should be OK, including the cam,,, the HSR will breath good at higher RPMs,, you will lose a bit of low end torque.
Your total performance should be very good.

you won't notice any loss of low end. the vortec heads they will fit are the pre 96 heads. the newer vortec heads with the 8 bolt intake will not fit in. there is a mesage board up at www.stealthram.com to help answer questions about it.
