NOID light flash?

I am performing tests to diagnose my TPI no pulse to the injectors and I have a question.

I am applying 12V power to the purple (refernce wire) at the distributor plug and I am getting the Noid light to flash everytime I remove power, but..

It doesn't really flash bright. You can barely see the filament of the light turn red to start to flash and then go away. If you touch the purple wire a couple times fast the light will flash brightly, but not with just one touch.

Is this normal or what is the deal? Thanks

Harley

I'm not certain you're supposed to put 12V there. The GM manual indicates that the ECM only receives a 2.3V signal from that wire. Yikes, I hope you didn't damage the computer.
