Gasket matching mounted heads

You guys think its a terrible idea to gasket match heads that are allready mounted in the car?

I was thinking, close valves, tape off everything, match the ports, then vacume, then blow out really good with blow gun.

But some people think its a bad idea.

Any comments?

You probably wont be the first to do it.

But not a great idea.

However it will be best to pull the heads and do the job right. Gasket matching is great but spending some time in the bowls will help even more.

not worth the chance of what could go wrong.

now if you pulled the heads, you might as well do a full basic port...

id either leave it alone, or pull the heads and do it right.

If the heads come off, they're going on ebay. and I don't wanna yank the heads.. But I was thinking of getting rid of the TPI setup and getting something else. victor efi prolly, and figured it would be a good time to 1205 everything.

the gains from porting the heads would be minimal...
IMO not enough to chance getting metal shavings in the motor....

not to mention, if yuo did, you'll be taking more then the heads off.....

Hmmn, let's see...little bits of castiron going up and down in the cylinders...versus 3 hp gasket matching the intake ports...

cast iron in the bores vs. 3 hp

Hmmnn...you be the judge.
