First Vortec TPI in Australia?

Finally finished putting my motor together in my 89 GTA. Its the standard 57K mile shortblock with Vortec heads, Comp XR264-12, LTR's, etc. Started it on open headers but I need to get the Y-pipe and exhaust done before I start tuning / driving. Heres a pic

Hey, how hard is it to find thirdgens in Austrailia(and how expensive)? I'm about to graduate college with a geology degree and was concidering all my options. Austraila sounds apealing to me aside from driving on the wrong side of the road.

Theres not a lot of 3rd gens here, most people are into the local Holdens, Monaros, Falcon GT's and XR8's etc. Plus all the turbo Skylines and WRX's etc.

A 3rd gen will set you back between about $10K and $20K Australian dollars, and they are all converted to right hand drive to be legal on the roads here. Its not permitted to have a left hand drive car.

The exhange rate to US dollars is currently about $1.00 AUD = $0.77 USD.

Are you planning on running it at the track anytime soon? I am really curious to your results because we pretty much have the same build except for the cam, so I'd love to see the difference.

Let me know.

Oh and I got some family that I never met in Australia!!!

Yeah Poncho I'll run it at the track, maybe in March.

When it was all stock 89 GTA I ran it at the track for a 14.7 ET. Hopefully it will be a bit quicker now

mine ran bone 14.9@91mph bone stock. After chip tuning it ran 14.7@93 MPH so are cars were about eqaul.

Now with only Vortec heads/Base and headers, no cat and 3" Mandrel bent exhaust it runs 13.7@100mph...so I am sure you will be considerably faster.

My car went 13.2 @ 104 at HRP with the stock motor / stock heads, ported intake, with longtube headers, the six-speed, PROM tuning, and all the bolt on's, in 50* weather.

For Poncho: I'm ABSOLUTELY sure that it's quite a bit faster now!

Vortec heads are awesome for cast iron production heads!
