Whats a good cam for my combo?

I think when my tax return comes back, I'm gonna replace the cam I have now with something with a little more lift.

Right now I have a Summit 1103 cam:

214*/224* duration at .050
.442/.465 lift
112 LSA

My current setup is as follows:

350 w/ stock bottom end (w/ the exception of hyper. pistons)
WP Sportsman II heads w/ dual springs good up to .600 lift
Pro Magnum 1.52 full rollers
Holley Stealth Ram w/ stock TB and 24# SVO's

Auto tranny w/ stock stall but don't let this play a factor, I should be swapping in a T56 by summer
3.23 gears out back.

If you have hyd. roller lifters, then my cam would work well in your motor: Comp Cams XR276HR-12

.503 / .510
224/230 @.050
112 LSA
108 ICA

this is the one i have...

08-502-8 Comp Cams "Extreme" Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
218 / 224, .495 / .502 112 LSA - 1500-5500 RPM range

though i would have gotten this one if i had an 2400 stall converter...

08-503-8 Comp Cams "Extreme" Hydraulic Roller Camshaft
224 / 230, .502 / .510 112 LSA - 1800-5800 RPM range

with the second cam, you'd have a problem with cam surge at idle or low rpms unless you have a 2000+ stall converter.

since you're going to go with a HSR, i'd say to get the 503 cam once you get yourself a converter.

call up comp cams at 1800-999-0853 and tell them what setup your going to run and they'll recommend a cam to you. when i called and asked the guy about what cam i should use for the MR i plan on putting later on, he told me to get the 503 because you really dont wanna spin the engine higher than 6 grand. but whats the point of having the MR or the HSR if your not going to shift at around 6, 6 1/2 grand? lol

forgot to add, I don't have a roller motor. Just plain old flat tappet lifters.

Comp makes the .503 cam in a flat tappet grind.

If it were me I would switch to a roller. I would get the LT4 GM Hotcam, with GMPP roller lifters, and GMPP 1.6 roller rockers. The cam with the 1.6 rocker is as follows:

218/228 @ .50" dur, .525"/.525", 112 LSA :hail:

Your car would do alot more this then...

Just my .02 though.

The hot cam is weak. It's kinda funny that everyone thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Yes, there are worse cams out there, but GM made the LT-4 hot cam on the conservative side for a reason. They trade a little power for a little reliability and to work a little better with stock ECM programming.

There are better cam choices for his Stealth-ram combo is all I'm saying.

I agree with that, I bet a lot of cars running the Hotcam and any decent aftermarket head are leaving a bunch of power on the table by going too mild. Id go with the XR276HR.
