need ideas for a 305 TPI

I have a Stock 91 305 TPI that just got the motor rebuilt. what would be a good cam and heads so i can get in the 13's. I don't want anything big i was thinking about some ported aluminum L98 heads and i don't know about the cam.

i'd recommend the l98 aluminums, unless you want to put a lot of money into this 305, which i wouldn't recommend. with the aluminum l98's, you'll drop about 50 pounds in weight, which helps a bit. if you're really gonna try to net 13's, i'd suggest the LT4 hotcam, especially if you're getting ported heads. everyone says it's too much cam for the 305, but people have put em in and don't report any problems. i'd also recommend the zz4 . you're gonna need more than just that to net 13's with a stock 305 TPI, though. i'd just search the boards for "305"....it seems whenever a 305 thread is started on the board, it's about building one, lol . this topic (heads/cam for a 305) has been covered MANY times, probably at least 5 or 6 in the last week or so. obviously, everything depends on how streetable you want to keep the car.

many people have written about this but i don't know which parts i should go with. the car is going to be a daily driver and all i want is to keep up with the new mustangs. I think im going the get the L98 aluminum heads and some headers but I'm not sure about the cam.

I have done decent in my quest to make power with the 305. I am getting my heads ported this week they will be on by Monday I hope. So far everyone has told me not to build it(whice I did) and I am actually happy so far. I like the Crane Compucams series. They got a nice band for the TPI's. Stick to the stock TB, get headers, port the plenum, gut the air boxs, add high flowing filters, a better converter(if you are auto).
The Heads are a big thing. There is a guy on here that has stock 305 heads just hogged out and he is running 11's. Tom I think is his name. I would just port them if I were you.
If all else fails nitrious it man. After my heads are ported I am gonna run it(its just been rebuilt too with 5000 miles now) I will run it and see if I have improved enough to get runners and a bigger cam. So far Low 15's are what I am running. With the heads I should be in the 14's, thats 13's are sealevel!!!.
What part of Texas you from 91305Z28???

I'm running the L98s and a compucam in my 305 also. I'm happy with the performance.

Apparently GM traded performance for indestructabillity with that motor. Those motors are impossible to kill it seems like.

I haven't ran it at the track yet. I've been working on it pretty hard recently and just have a few things to sort out. I hope to be on the dyno within the next 2 months and the track also. I'll keep you posted.

If you want any other info about my set-up drop me an e-mail.

Thanks

Robert
