Project 350 Iroc Progress

Stock was 90/LB9/auto/2.73 street tires.. only mod: 80 series flowmaster: 15.2 @ 90mph

Since: Trans Rebuild w/ shift kit, vette servo's, kevlar bands, hardnened shell and drive gear, etc.. stock stall - L31 Vortec 350, stock iron vortec heads, zz-4 cam - lt4 springs - sdpc tpi vortec intake base, 1.5:1 rr's, SLP 1 3/4th w/ AIR, 3 inch cat back with 80 series flowmaster - MSD 8.5mm wires - MSD coil - SVO 24# injectors - sphohn sfc's - lakewood lca's - poly tranny mount - stewart high flow water pump - little bitty street tires.. no real tuneing: 260rwph and 370rwtq got me this:

Would have practiced my launch better for more traction, but was told to buy a helmet

Since then i got a Fast Chip which yielded 283rwhp and 396.5rwtq.. times to come soon

have ever weighed your car? How much does it weigh?

I am curious, we run very close to each other with similar setups minus the cam.

My car weighs 3750 with me in it.

I have stock L98 cam and stock iron vortec heads with 1.6 rrs. See sig for the rest of the stuff I've done

I've run over 100mph and 13.7 with my setup on street tires.

with me in the car it weighs in at 3550... my 13.6 was before tuneing and without much practice for launch.. i think i have good 1.8x in me on street tires and should beable to pull a low 13.. maybe 13.2x or better.. with some DR's i hope for high 12's.

Also: when i ran the 13.6.. my dyno #'s were up there but there was a dead spot around 3500 rpm's because of some false knock.. i could litterally feel the car just stop accelerating.. wait 2 seconds or so and then start increasing in power again.. rpms did this..

1500
2000
2500
3500
3490
3500
3500
3700
4500
5000

So i am very curious to see what my times will be

Look at Dyno run 001 at that RPM range and you will see what i am talkin about.. wish i printed out the time it took to go from 70mph to reach 5200rpm's to compare.. the other dyno run (009)was with some tuneing and open y-pipe... my current dyno #'s are with full exhaust.. so the jump was about from a baseline 252, then a bunch of tuneing and playing to get to 267 with a SuperChip and then 283 with a FastChip.

you gained 16 hp just from the chip change? WOW that's impressive. I assume since you are '90 car you are SD, right?

I think you should be able to get close to 12s with your setup.

I am guessing mine will be able to go low 13s when I install my SLP CAI, 52MM TB, ported plenum and large tube runners.

When are you planning on taking it back to the track?

As soon as its open.. they just tore down the old tower and they are building up the track here.. New Track and a nice autocross course.. 9000 sq ft tower with restaurant, etc

I am guessing mid March maybe..

I wish they made HSR for Vortec heads.. The whole HSR unit was same price as my intake base from SDPC.. one of these days..

Oh and yes.. SD car

GM High Tech got a solid 15hp from a Fast Chip in Blue Thunder and gained .2 in their 1/4 times. Ed Wright does them right, and that was a Stage 2 chip for $159 imagine a custom chip? Could be good.
Looks like a TPI I just saw the trap speed. Good run and congrats.

There is a rumor running around that Holley is going to make a HSR for vortec heads. Some guy that works at holley posted on this site to guage interest.

Personnally I hope they do as well. Not for my GTA, I want to retain a stock look, but for a bracket car I want to build in the coming year or so.

Is there any way to get a look at what your chips programming looks like? Do you have an ALDL adapter and Craig Moates software? I would love to compare what your chip has compared to a stock one. Might give me some pointers on my own custom chip.
