What determines the redline? I have an 87 Iroc 350. Redline is 5500. What pieces do I replace to raise it?

So you are saying that the stock engine won't turn up far enough to need better valvetrain parts.

What exactly are you looking to do? Do you want to make more power or just rev the engine for the sake of revving it? Virtually everything on the stock engine limits the rpm, the L98 wasnt designed to make power above 4500rpm. It is generally agreed that a well-maintained, low mileage bottom end will take 6000-6500rpm, but you have tiny little intake ports, 22in of intake runner, and a very mild stock cam, not to mention the stock "valvesprings" that the factory installs. If you want to make major power, get aftermarket/ported heads, a SuperRam/HSR/Miniram, headers, full roller valvetrain, a cam to match, and a bunch of tuning. If you just want to impress your friends with your high redline, get a V6 tach. Trending Topics
