just got back from a 1 hour ride with it , it feels great no pinging lots of power , i thought it would have been alot worse with stock chip in there ,

i notice after the car warms up and you put it from park into drive the idle drops and the car dies , also throws the ses lite , i have no scanner so i don;t no what code it is but i bet its a lean code

Yes.

You will probably need more fuel pressure to start with. Then you will need to retune the ECM. A lot. Don't expect big things until you tune.

maybe, but if i wont ruin your dreams if you wont ruin mine...lol

modding the 305 seems to take away the low end of these motors.

It's a MAF setup correct? If so he shouldn't need that much tuning. MAF is more forgiving.

That's my take on it though.

I have a 305tpi as well. I put in a comp cam and I actually was slower until I started fixing the exhaust. My engine will heat a bit when idling and run very rich too. But on the good side I am making more power and have headers to install when I have time, then the power will come!

Whats the SES light on for? I modded my 89 350 with al. heads lpe 219 cam and and super ram and have no problems driving on the stock chip and with no ses light and its more powerful. I think your ses light problem is causing the problem. I could see if it was a sd car but with maf you should have no probs. Thats not even a big cam.

That's how I feel about it, MAF systems are fine with changes, they can actually measure the amount of air going into the engine. I heard about people running a chip, which is pretty much stock, except for the 1st MAF table, and the only reason they changed that was to get it to idle smoother.

I heard someone on the board that was running a 383 with a Accel Super Ram and a custom chip, and just for the hell of it he put in his stock 305 chip to see if it would run, and he said it ran pretty alright, except for the idle.

Sounds like you need a higher stall from the converter. I'm running 2800 with my 305.
