305 to built 350 TPI
305 to built 350 TPI
Ok am doing a 305 TPI to 350 TPI swap...
I got 24lb injectors, flat top pistons, heddman hedders, bigger cam, double roller timing chain.
I have the engine dropped in and turning over but cannot start it
Do i need to change the prom in the ECM?
Would an 85 corvette that had 350 TPI Prom Chip work?
or where can i get my 305 prom chip burned?
What do i need to do?

AJM,
What year is your 305 TPI?
I have an 87 Camaro that I just completed doing a 305 TPI to 350 TPI swap. It sounds like you are on the right track, but in addition to the 24lb injectors you need to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator for the fuel rail. I don't know if the 85 chip will work, I think it depends on what year car you have. The 85 ECM was different from the 86-89 TPI ECM's and then the 90-92 ECM's were different. I also don't know if the Corvettes used the same ECM's. I got a discontinued Hypertech stage III chip from a friend for free, but I'm told Hypertech chips are pretty much worthless. If the 85 Corvette chip won't work, I would check the classified ads on the home page or even ebay.

The ECM should not be causing you not to start. It's not the optimal ECM or chip to be running but it should still work. You may want to make sure that you have fuel and spark. It sounds like you have a problem in one of those 2 areas.

350 TPI
I just did a similar engine swap and used the 305 chip for about a month until I got a new one, so that is not the problem. You can get a chip for your car at www.fastchip.com. Unfortunately you will have to spend about $350 for a custom built chip, I just put one in my car and it works great.
