Problem with the IROC Need opinions...

All of a sudden while in it today while driving it started stumbling real bad like it was running out of gas, unburnt gas smoke coming out of the exhaust so I assume it's electrical in nature. Tried pulling a code but only got code 12 tapped the maf sensor but no help there either. It's weird cause it can run fine for a few minutes either idling or driving then all of a sudden die or attempt to die, with the unburnt gas fumes/smoke.

My 1st guess after it showing no codes is computer is going....

Anyone agree/disagree with this?

Thanks

Try some dry gas. I dont know what theyre doing to the gas in my area last couple years every time i let it get below a quarter tank of gas it starts stalling and smoking like a pig. As soon as i fill it up and dump a can of dry gas in it its back to normal. If the car sits in a damp garage this might have something to do with your problem.

The car has a full tank of gas in it and sits outside. It ran fine when I drove it 2 days ago, just started screwing up this morning

try disconnecting the maf sensor and firing her up. let the ses light come on. see if it runs better.

Did better than that, I have a brand new maf that's been laying around and tried it. No better. When I first started it it ran fine for a couple minutes, then it started acting up again, now it won't even stay running and I noticed with the key on and the car engine off the check engine light flashes randomly, almost as if it were shorting out flashes fast then slow than stops flashing, etc.

replace the ecm. at the least swap it, with a good used one. that maybe the answer to your problems.

Yeah, with the randomly blinking check engine light I'm more and more taking this to be my problem.

Thanks for the help

Well, it's confirmed to be a bad computer. Yanked the computer apart and layed it on the floor, started it up and as soon as I tapped the ecm the car died. Going to get a new one right now.
