TPI Swap Fuel Pump

Hey everyone, my TPI setup should be here in the next week or so, i'm gathering my list of parts and have a question about the fuel pump. I found this pump (AC delco# 25168719) on the Street and Performance website in their catalog. I also found it on some other site and it lists it as a 87 Blazer pump. I want to know specs on it. It is on page 47 of the online catalog under fuel injection parts and accessories. I assume it will work cuz its on their site for TPI and since i work at GM i get the pump cheap. Thanks guys. I know the blazer 4.3's needed about 60 psi and hated anything below 50 so with an AFPR or the stock regulator i should be able to get it where i need for my LTI 24# injectors and mild 350.

You will need more then a 60 psi fuel pump for a TPI, I would check around somemore.

I would suggest picking up a Summit. They have loads of fuel pumps, for all needs. I also need one for my swap........

I would get the walbro GSS340M pump. If your willing to spend a little more then you may want to get the pump and hot wire kit: http://www.racetronix.com/product/RX..._Pump_Kit.html

Do you mean the Plug n play wiring harness, 230 bucks CAN sounds like a lot for a pump and wiring, i'll have to look a little closer at options, there are plenty of speed shops in Calgary, are the walbros as loud as holley's i hear everyone complain about how load holley's are.

The pump and the plug and play harness (hot wire kit) is only $170, not sure where you got the $230 from? I have the Racetronix kit with a GSS340M pump. It's not loud at all; I can't even hear it when the car is running.

230 bucks CAN
CAN means Canadian, why do i need a pump capable of 60+ when the highest i hear people run on tpi is 50 ? Won't the regulator have problems taking 75 psi from the pump and dropping it to 45 ?? Thats a lot of work for a 30 dollar part.

Yea, for some reason my fuel pump makes a loud, high pitched humming noise. It is a brand new Walbro 340 high pressure one from Auto Performance Engineering. It only gets loud after the car is driven for awhile. I just replaced it not 200 miles ago. Fuel pressure is the same, stock FPR, so what could the deal be?

My new Holley in-tank pump does the same thing. When mrt89rs put in the pump he left the heat shield off (it was hitting the muffler) and now my fuel starts to boil in the tank. When the pump starts sucking up bubbles, it whines.

The GSS340M is only a few dollars more than a GSS307M.
The GSS340 has a more efficient armature in the motor so it draws less power at any given output compared to a GSS307M.
The high-pressure capability of the pump has nothing to do with the regulator's set pressure. If you need the higher pressure later on it will have what it takes to handle it. If not you would never know the difference.

The Racetronix system will work fine in your application:

Keep in mind that Racetronix pays the tax on Canadian sales. There are no cross-border shipping or brokerage fees.

I replaced my AC Delco fuel pump with a Master aftermarket pump when I swapped my tank out. I figured with 150K it was worth doing. Well, since then it almost makes a gurgling sound when its hot. I put a new sock and pulsation dampner on it too.

I now wish I had left the original pump in there, because its a constant worry. I never want to have to go in there again!

How do you know your gas is boiling?

Open the cap and put your ear up to it. It could've been air from the return line, but I don't see how after driving for 30 minutes I'd have air in the lines unless the pump was putting it in.

If you absolutely have to go to a GM pump, go with a Buick Grand National pump ($75 US last time I bought one) or go with an LT4 pump..... Just a thought anyway....

The racetronix isn't an inline fuel pump is it ?? I need an inline. I was about to order when looking at the pic it doesn't look to be an inline pump, and it doesn't say if it is inline or not in the decription.

Are gen3 fuel pumps, intank, or an outside-inline type?

I thought all the in tank pumps were part of the sending unit, meaning i have to buy a whole new sending unit and i have a blazer tank not a thirdgen tank so i didn't think it would work, how does the pump mount in the tank, it's a poly tank and i can drop it down easily, actually i have acess to the top of it by removing the bed wood takes about 2 mins.

3rd Gen fuel pumps mount in the tank directly on the sending unit. I don't really like the way it sits in there but it seems to work.

Your pump would need to match the sending unit that you have on the tank to mount it internally.

It sounds like maybe you are a putting TPI setup onto a blazer??? That would probably explain a lot...

No i'm putting TPI in a 64 Chev 1/2 ton with a blazer fuel tank mounted under the bed, i think i want to go with a frame mount inline pump since i'll probably be airbagging it and getting rid of the underbed gas tank anyways.

ATM, I don't have a car to look at, but,
is there some reason why gen3 folks do not
parallel two (or more) fuel pumps, to get the
flow that is needed?
