engine stalling on idle help plz

since i got the car i've been having a problem with what i believe is the mass air flow sensor. i ran a test through my computer, and that is the code that keeps comming up. what happens is, i'll turn on the car, and sometimes it will just stall. or it will start to stall, idle at about 200 rpm for a while, then shoot up to 2000 rpm, then go down to 1000, and eventually even out. the problem is not consistant. it happens randomly, but the car rarely stalls while i am driving it. is a mass air flow sensor expensive? if so, how can i fix mine?? please help, the problem is not horrible, but gets annoying... thanks!!

You could have a major vaccum leak. Check for those first. Also could be your IAC, TPS and or your MAF. Not all aftermarket MAF's work well in our cars. Do a search to find out which ones work best. I wouldnt change the MAF until I was sure thats what the problem is.

If you car was running fine prior to you getting the maf SES code.

Start your car and let it idle.
get a screw driver and knock on the sensor lightly if the car fumbles simultaineously when you knock on it , it is bad I bought one not too long ago and it was 140 bucks.
