Brown smoke?!?
What does this indicate. It a brown color, doesnt look like oil, The car has been sitting for 10 months with a nearly full tank of gas w/ Stabilizer in it. Any idea of what to look for. Also my fans rattle for some stupid reason, where are all the bolts to tighten it up. I know its them cause as soon as i press on it firmly rattaling stops. Please help.:hail:
I dont know about the brown smoke, but the fan bolts i do. Near the top of the radiator there is 2 bolts for each fan. then on the bottom of the radiator there is 2 more bolts for each fan.

If the car has been sitting a while, it is a definite possibility that the puff of brown you see is eveidence of iron oxide build ups.

That's why whenever you let a car sit for that long, you should either start it once a month, or coat the cylinders by spraying fogging oil through the intake until the engine quits. I have to do this to the 454 in my boat every fall when I winterize it. Otherwise the engine oil will run down, and rust will form, eventually requiring a rebuild. The rust can score the cylinder walls and damage piston rings if it gets bad enough.
