Injector removal problem.

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but here goes. Found out my manifold was leaking, and ive pulled the plenum, runners, etc. My problem is the fuel rail, im trying to remove it, but I cant get it out for the life of me, am I suppose to stand on the engine to get em out? lol, or are they suppose to just slide out? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

The orings on the injectors are probably dry and sicking in the holes, spray some WD40 in all the holes, let it sit for a minute, then "wiggle" the whole assy (hold both rails at the same time) side to side, eventually it'll come out.

If it get's too tough, then open the injector clips on the rails, pull the rails, then pull the injectors individually.

i just changed the injectors on my 91 yesterday. i found out that in order to get the fuel rails out, you have to disconnect the inlet and outlet hardlines and then unbolt the bracket that holds the lines. in order to get the hardlines out though, you have to remove the alternator so you can pull the lines from the fittings once you get them disconnected. did you take both runners off or just one side?

What I did as far as the fuel lines, is disconnect them at the flex hose and hang them up(Seems to leak fuel even after I pull the fuse and stuff, probably because of the hills all over my place lol) I disconnected the hard lines right past the altenator, but what I did was unbolt the bracket holding the hard lines right behind the altenator, and that gave me a bit of play in the hard lines, enough to move them out of the way to move the fuel rail out. Now if I can just get the manifold off ill be doin good lol

my upper plenum has 7 T40 Torx bolts and 1 goofy looking bolt with what looks like it should be a vacuum connector on it.

when you pop that manifold off, watch out for those metal grommets at each end of the gaskets. they may come out unknowingly and hide in a pool of oil. you wouldn't want to find them in the oil pump screen like i did... just account for all of them and the gasket material, too.

Why were you taking the manifold off in the first place to replace injectors? There is no need for you to take it off unless you are replacing it too

Talk about a Fun Job!!! Many many thanks go out to Trickster and his great knowledge of our cars! I simply cant thank him enough for the help he has given me, now and prior to this. To date, ive replaced the following: Plugs, wires, rotor cap/button, O2 sensor, fuel filter, MAF sensor, both MAF relays, O rings in the injectors and now the gaskets on the intake manifold (quite an adventure there!) Everything was put back together right, no leaking, etc etc, but my car is still idling funky, like it goes from 5-15k RPMs and then back down, and hesitates when I put it in gear. Im just completely lost now lol! But, thanks for the help everyone!
