305 nitrous times

I finally was able to take my Trans AM to the track and get some times.
60 ft: 2.189
1/8 mile 9.229
1/8 MPH 79.9

Mods are 305 with an LT1 cam, N.O.S. 100 shot, Rebuilt 700-R4 with a 2000 stall, an on Kumho 711's

Is this time good for a 305?

sound about normal for a4

that's about what i've heard from an auto car, however, i took my t-5 car to the track mods and time follow

mods- rebuilt 305 .030 overbore
94 lt1 cam
shorty headers
3.73's
t-5 manual tranny
26x10.5 ET Streets
100 shot N.O.S. brand kit using the throttlebody plate

60ft 1.81
1/8th 8.30
@84 MPH
bottle pressure was at 900psi before this pass
driving was by no means conservative

I don't have NOS but my best in the 1/8 is 9.34 sec@ 76mph. I have a cam, headers, 3:42 gears and lcarbs.

I would say with a 100hp shot you should be in the mid 8's.

Are you having traction problems?

last time i took my car to the track about 4 years ago, i was at 10.19 @ 69mph, with serious traction issues. only thing i had was a K&N+descreened maf.
so with that lt1 cam+100shot of nitrous and a stall, i would've hoped for more than a 1 second gain.

if i were you, i'd be pissed about something.

any tuning/suspension mods done?

everything is stock not tuned for anything yet just out playing around, traction was a fun thing to deal with on street tires
also my pos 9 bolts mostly spinning only one tire it will be fixed soon very soon next time its at the track 125 shot, 4:10 gear, and slicks hoping to be in the mid eights

also my cam is very small 200/200 and 450/450

305

about 8 years ago, i had the original 305 tpi in my 92 formula. it had a ported plenum, accel base , runners. msd 6al, headers and cat back. it was, and still is a 5 speed. with a 100 shot, it ran consistant 13.20s at 106, with terrible 60 fts on radials. the proof is in the may 1997 high tech performance magazine, world war III article.even with fuel problems, the car went 13.80s @105. back in the day this was a serious 305 tpi. judging from the mph, this car should of ran high 12s.well that was 2 engines ago. i sure miss that motor! every 350 i beat swore i was lying about my displacement. so keep tuning and playing at the track and there is no reason your 305 cant run well in the 13s with nitrous. dig up an old copy of the may 97 issue and see for your self....tom

i ran my time with a busted 700r4 too...only 2 gears. haha

SFC's+LCA's will be worth their weight in gold for you.

i can't remember what my cam specs are, but it's the comp NX262...i got a nitrous cam for a reason.

Once you get everything together you should be able to pull mid - low 8's. My best so far is a 8.371

Something is a little off, but traction is a huge part of it. Here is the breakdown of my car. All 1/8 mile

stock 10.5

stock with exhaust, chip, k&n and 100 shot. 9.20's

same as above with 150 and 2000 stall 8.8 et

add cam(Crane comp cams in Jegs) and headers(shorty edelbrock) and drag radials

9.1 @ 77 NA

8.0 @ 88.9 NOS(plate system)

All this in a 120,000 mile non-roller shortblock.

IMO you need drag radials, torque converter, headers, and a bigger cam. You should run mid 12s then!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: my cam was only 440''/454'' lift can't remember the duration. Cam should be OK

Chris
