Cam question....again..
Ok as the subject says; I planed to change my stock camshaft to something more "hot". Anyone got any suggestions? I got stock manifold, stock runners and ported plenium, AFPR @47PSI, custom chip, and a 2,77 rear end. I planed to port the stock heads too.

Not much point without swapping out those highway gears. You'll lose low end torque that you desperately need to get the car moving. The car will probably be slower than it is now.
Swap up to a 3.73 gear and then start thinking about a cam and doing headwork.

You'll just need to swap the speedo gear for a correct one. What year is your car? Mechanical speedo cars are easy. It's a simple gear swap. I'm not 100% sure how to handle an electric speedo because I've never dealt with one, except my Autometer, which is self calibrating.

If it's an '88 Camaro then you have a mechanical speedo and all you have to do is pull the speedo drive out of the trans, change to the right gear, and pop it back in. It will literally take you longer to get the car up on jackstands that it will to do the work. Any Chevy dealer should be able to get you the right gear if you give them the tire size and rear end ratio.

When I first put my 355 in I had the LT4 hot cam and 2.73 gears. starting from a stop sucked. It took a lot of clutch slipping and a fair amount of gas. The 3.45 are great now. World of difference. You will want to change the gears. My MPG even went up. Probably because at leat 1/2 of my driving is city/town.
