383 SuperRam...What cam?

I have a 383 running 9.0 compression with 195cc AFR heads. I have a SuperRam induction system with a Edelbrock manifold and a 58mm throttle body. This is going in my 1990 Chevy Truck. This is my daily driver. I was thinking of putting the Hot Cam in it or a Comp Cams Nitrous series. I am considering installing a supercharger at a later date and run 10-12 psi through a 3 core intercooler. My goal is around 500 rwhp. Any help would be greatlly appreciated. Thanks

If you really are gonna run a blower, then you will want to keep some spread in the duration.

I'm running a Crane that falls in the 215/221 range w/ 1.5's on a vortec headed tpi setup on a 383. Should be in the 216-217/221-223 range w/ my 1.6 rr's

Not running yet, but should be shortly, took longer than I thought since I have done everything new to the car except paint and body(which might get done this year yet).

So let the records show all of our cam choices are in a very similar vein for a well built true street driver :-)

later
Jeremy

The 219 will not be a good cam with a blower

Well, like I said....I was thinking of the Comp Cams Nitrous series with a 218/230 duration @ .050 with a .470/.490 lift and a 113 LSA. That should work great considering its for nitrous. Maybe a 222/230 cam would work. With these big cams are they working well with the computer?

They wont work well at all with a stock tune, but they have a wide LSA, so it will be easier to tune. Ive heard that u should run at least 114 with a blower, but look around in the power adder board, they have a lot of threads and i think even a sticky about choosing a cam.

On my Old motor, i had a 350 my trick flow heads, superram and Comp Extreme 218/224 520/533 (w 1.6) on a 112. I also had stock 22 injectors and stock chip. car ran perfect nice and smooth. Passed emmissions and all. No cold start or hot start problem, no hesitation, no stumbling. yea it wasnt taking advantage of all the enw stuff but it ran great.

Since I missed the part about the blower i'm going to change my suggestion the the LPE/Accel "220" cam. It's meant for blower equipped TPI engines.

isnt a LPE 219 to a comp 224/230 about good for a daily driver on a 383?
those milder cams would work great for a blower. but like some say, split duration for sure. but i have recently seen a post where one guy was running something with a shorter duration on the exhaust side and a larger duration on the intake with boost. so i would maybe call a few places to see what they think. with AFR's i would think you wouldnt want too much exhaust duration since they flow really good there. that would bleed off all the cylinder pressure.

i want to run 383-388 super ram and comp cams 230-236 one a 114 LSA

I have an old SLP Cam 214/224 and .470/.490 lift with 1.5 rockers. Idle is great. 17" of vac at idle and no problems using 730ECM.

SLP no longer makes this cam but I think Lingenfelter makes one pretty close.
