White smoke coming from '85 Z28
I just bought a 1985 Camaro Z28 for a whopping $1200 and it has 35,625 on the odometer but I think it's more like 135,625 and everytime I step on the gas it shoots a white cloud of somke out the tail pipes and I feel like James Bond 007. Can you tell me what maybe wrong with it? I aslo am looking for a wiring scheme for the car as it has some wires broke going into the fire wall on the drivers side top the green and orange wire are what are broke. Any help would be great.

Is it white smoke or a grey/blue smoke? More then likely if it is grey/blue, you just need to install a new set of valve stem seals. When you start the car after it sits for a few hours, do you get a big puff of smoke?

When it sits idle just a bit of white smoke but when i hit the gas off of the like it's a big cloud of white smoke. Then it's gome until I hit the pedal again.

Depending on color, you could have bad ring seal or a popped head gasket. I havn't seen valve stem seals puke so bad it smokes all the time but I'm sure its a possible. I'd check the plugs see if there is a ton of oil on them, or if they're super white (coolant). If its eating coolant, get a cooling sys. pressure tester, put about 15-18 psi in it, and see if bubbles or hissing from intake gasket, maybe sucking coolant into intake ports. If not, you may need to do head gasket(s).

I just remembered something else, my friend's 89 GTA did a similar deal only when warm. It was a TPI car but, it had a problem with the intake gasket and was sucking oil through the EGR passage. The thing smoked like a freight train, but only when warm in closed loop. Just an extra thought.
Good luck
