Pics of TB bypass (coolant hose routing)

Could someone show a picture of the best way to run a new hose for a throttle body bypass? right now, iv got a hose from the manifold going forward, then curving to the passenger side and going over the alternator bracket, then back to the firewall. it is somewhat of a sharp bend, but its not pinched, and i was wondering if anyone thought up some better ideas.

I ran a small hose from the trottle body to 90 degree elbow, them another hose from that to the passenger side. Then just added a small coupler to connect that hose to the hose that normally connects to the passenger side of the trottle body.

Worked out great, looks like it belongs there!!

If you go to the wrecking yard the OLD Carb'ed models had a metal pipe going from the valve cover to the air cleaner it is the perfect size, bend, and everything and it looks rather nice.

Just use a piece of 5/8" hose with a 90* bend at one end..

that one looks good, my car has a much bigger alternator bracket and it prevents mine from being that way, my hose has to go up and over this big bracket

I had just a straight piece, curved over the alternator for many many years and never had a problem.

I'm blown away to hear that so many of you have done this bypass. I did it to mine just this afternoon, because I thought antifreeze was leaking into the intake. Why did you guys do it?

It keeps the Throttle body pleneum a little bit cooler. Which then makes the air entering the engine cooler.

i bought a 5/8" 90degree elbow. i pulled off the hoses from the TB, and on my car there was a 90 elbow already that came from the firewall and went into the TB on the pass side, and what i did is take some extra hose and came out from the intake manifold, went directly to a 90 elbow, went over the alternator bracket, then to another 90 and then back to the firewall. i didnt have room to install the 90 threaded elbow into the manifold because it would involve me removing brackets which takes time and im not into taking things apart for 1 little thing.

i actually lucked out and found a heater hose at the parts house that from the intake to the heater bypass valve that looked like it was supposed to be there.

no 90 deg. elbows and no involvement with the firewall.

Check into the list of free mods that can be performed on thirdgens... This is one of the first on the list.

As stated, it removes the HOT coolant that runs through the throttle body resulting in a cooler intake charge/ ie.more power. If you drive the car in overly cold areas, you may want to run the antifreeze back through it to prevent icing in the TB...Never heard of it actually happening, but GM engineers thought about it for a reason....
