Wiring harness issues

Ive got an 87 iroc.

i took every sensor off the 305 and put it on the new 350. has a/c and all that stuff. now im going to plug it all back in...and some wires dont want to find a home. everything on the engine is plugged in, so its stuff under the hood that i cant find.

mainly its that main piece of wire loom that has the grey ignition coil connector on it...there is a black connector also in this piece of loom...has a metal bracket on it...looks like it plugs into a relay of some sort...the relays on the driver side are all plugged in already.

also, there is a green bushinged 2 prong connector sticking out midway through this harness that i cant seem to find a home for as well as a ground (i thought the ground bolted up to the stud that holds the thermostat neck deal in. i seem to be wrong.

anyone have a location for every wire under the hood or something? i have a wiring schematic, but it doenst help much.

If you transposed every sensor from teh 305 to the 35o, you may want to revisit the detonation sensor eventually. The 305 sensor may be entirely too sensitive for the 350.

As for your mystery connections, wire colors at each connector will be a lot more useful that connector descriptions and locations.

You didn't give much detail, but here's an equally detailed shot:

It probably plugs into either a sensor or a switch.

That one probably goes to the sensor w/ the black external color located next to the other thingy.

www.helminc.com sells manuals w/ detailed connector info.

there was no need to be a dick about it. i didnt think it was so hard to follow, as there are 3 main branches to the harness...all covered in a larger-in-diameter wire loom. beings the ignition coil connectors are black and grey, the grey one would be pretty damn decisive to point out. also, beings this is at the end of one of those 3 pieces of loom, i dont think itd be so hard to understand. also, the black connector that looked like it plugged into a relay is the only connector on the entire harness that had a metal bracket attached to it. the 2 prong connector with the green bushing is in the middle of nowhere on this same piece of loom...if you had the harness spread out for you, youd be able to pick out exactly which one it was. ill come back on tomorrow or tuesday and post the wire colors themselves, as i was doing this off of memory.

oh, and is there a ground wire bolted onto the thermostat housing or not?

Yeah, there was need to be a dick about it or I wouldn't have done it.

The one by the coil connector is probably your EGR solenoid control.

Next time, hit the store and buy $5 worth of masking tape and a Sharpie marker so you can label the connectors as they come off.

nah it isnt that. everything on the engine itself is connected.
its the stuff on the body i cant find, i suppose the masking tape would have been a good idea for that.
the black ignition coil connector was easily placed as the distributor wires and all that stuff kept it where it needed to be. the way i had routed the other wires however, the a/c (its an 87 so its drivers side) wires were right there...and the wires connecting to that loom had a black ground wire, my teacher (yea im doing this in autoshop) said it had to have bolted to the thermostat housing because thats the only thing close to it. well, if the ground went there, then the only way for that grey ignition coil connector (i believe the wires might have one pink, one white) would be to grow across the plenum. i know that isnt how it went so i have no clue where that ground goes...the a/c stuff can stay where it is though.

is there anyway that the ignition coil can bolt onto its bracket backwards?, the grey connector is facing the back, as the black one is facing forward...i dont think it has anything to do with it...but just thought id throw that out there to give some more information as i dont have the car right here next to me.

ok...most of the stuff today found a home...however there is still that damn 2 prong connector with the green bushing. the wire colors are: black, and pink w/ black stripe. as of right now this connector is sitting behind the distributor, but there is nowhere for it to plug into, as the distributor has its wires plugged in. any ideas?
