How do I check for a vaccum leak? Is this even the problem?
After asking around a lot, and looking through a repair manual, i think my problem is a vaccum leak. Quick overview...
When I got the car it idled at 1500 in park and 600 in drive. I lowered the idle in park by loosening the screw that adjust the throttle line(?) that connects to the gas pedal. I lowered the idle to about 900, but it would stall when going into gear. I raised it to about 1250 and it would stall every once in a while if I didn't give it enough gas when going into gear. Also, going into gear is kind of harsh. I put it back up to just about where it was (1400ish) and I rarely need to give it gas to stop it from stalling, but it still happens ocassionally. And I think it is probably a vaccum leak. My buddies already made a quick check for a cracked intake manifold, but they didn't hear any whistling or feel any air or see anything weird. Anyhow, do you think this is the problem? And if it is, how would I go about checking for it and fixing it? Thanks so much for the help.

u can spray around all the gaskets with carb cleaner or such and listen for the engine to respond to it, then thats where ur leak is if there is one, also if u have a tpi i would clean and readjust ur iac then go from there

well, i just found something interesting. i was looking at where you can adjust the idle and i was just kinda looking around. i noticed on the drivers side, where the feul lines connect to the intake manifold, there is supposed to be a screw right next to them. but there is just a threaded hole... is there supposed to be a screw there. i can take a picture if necessary. thanks a lot.
