Stage II L-98 Heads

I was over at a place the other day and they were showing me a set of stage II L-98 heads they had just done. They seemed impressive to me but ill share the numbers and let yall tell me what yall think. I thought the L-98's were not the best to run. I might go by there and take some pics to show. The heads they did flowed 270 cfm on the intake side at .600 lift and 215-220 cfm on the exhaust side at .600.

What company was this again? Did the heads have an exhaust crossover for normal EGR function or were they the aluminum heads used on the Vette's L98?

Do you know what they flowed at .500 lift or at any of the lower lifts? The numbers sound quite good.

Makes a huge difference which engine they are off of, so we would need to know if you could find out for sure.

Z28 - Iron, has exhaust crossover
Vette - Aluminum, no crossover

Do some searching :-)

A few memebers have ported l98 heads(cast iron) to the 250-270 cfm rang on the intake and I believe near just over 200 on the exhaust or so.

They are a decent head to work with.

flow numbers are very similiar from the alum and cast iron version and both respond favorably to port work. Only downside is, they are still old school in the actual combustion chamber design. Hard to ignore them though, especially if u have them already and/or can do the work yourself or have someone that can for cheap.

I debated going this route, and I still may one day on my GTA that I plan on running my prototype TPI setup on. Just to keep with the its all stock, which it is right now.

later

from what i understand the worst thing about the L-98 heads is the turn the intake ports make into the bowls.

Also the shape of the combustion chamber is old school. The Vortecs have the latest style combustion chambers as an example.
