check out my TPI swap (pics)

well its not your usual camaro TPI swap. This truck was bought new by my grandpa in 1985 and passed on to me just before he passed on I promised to keep it alive. For the last three years it has been parked but now she is kicking again.

I still have to get a lokar TPI kickdown cable and ath350 VSS but she does run now!!!

Thanks for the help on here.

L98 350 or LB9 305? How does it run? Looking good.

I went with the other option on mine. TBI swap.

Looks awesome!

I'm still in the process of putting a SM465 (granny 3 speed) into my truck, and working on a speed density conversion, so its gonna a be a little while before mine hits the road

I'm excited though, I haven't driven my baby in like 14 months!

Yep, it looks like a nice clean installation. I bet your grandfather would be proud of his truck. That combination makes for a good truck motor. Well done.

I'm also working on a similar truck. We should have the engine running on Monday. It's a hodge podge, but for the most part it's a 1983/1986 K10. There's a website decidated to this carb to TPI conversion. http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonn...10/default.asp

thats the original 1985 truck lines. they do not fit very well though. that is on the "do it" list.

i ran my harness and computer through that hole to the left of your intake on the fire wall. made a clean install.

Precisely. The TPI and long stroke/bore 305 is just about an ideal combination for a truck that may see some duty. And with a moderate gear ratio, should get respectable mileage.

hey S10Wildside
what throttle cable are you using for that swap. Was the one from the TBI setup long enough.

We're going to use a Lokar cable and cut it to length.

IF you have it column mounted the easiest thing to do is get a reverse light switch for a Fullsize Van in the TBI era. My 1980 C10 is this way as is my 1983 G20.

A/c line for something like an 89 Buick in my K5 w/ serp belt. had to tweak one line slightly, but it came out looking factory.

I resolved the park ground signal using a new neutral safety switch that includes a ground source. This does not provide a ground source in neutral. Details can be found at http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonn...lectronics.asp

Here's the VSS details. http://www.eficonnection.com/eficonn...ansmission.asp

We used a 90 Camaro/Firebird TPI fuel pump, 87 K-10 tank for fuel injection applications, and an 87 K-10 sending unit. The gauge is currently not working...still looking into that.
