Hot TPI system
Hi all,
A friend has just got his stock 88 Camaro TPI system back together and it appears to be running well. However, within moments of running the paint on the right side header just started peeling off, but the paint on the left header stayed intact.
Using a temperature reader, each header primary on the right side showed 200 degrees (celcius - I think) hotter than the primaries on the left side. The car wouldn't have entered closed loop yet, but we thought it rather odd that there would have been such a large temperate difference.
What could be causing this? Possibly bad injectors, running lean on one side? Any tips would be appreciated.

Man this is really open ended.. Lets see did we get more hand prints on that side or maybe some WD 40. If it's running good forget it. if there is a problem. You'll get a light on soon enough.

If there's a leak we certainly can't hear it. The temperature readings we got definitely exceeded the rating of the high temp paint which explains why it flaked off. It's just weird how one side of the engine runs hotter than the other.

Vacuum leak affecting a bank.
Bad injectors more prominent on one side than the other.
Exhaust leak at head.
And on and on.
I would keep an eye on it while getting it broke in and see if it still does it?
Timing set correctly?
Is it just hotter or is the one side glowing?
later

That one side is just hotter than the other, not glowing hot.
My understanding from the wiring diagram is that the two banks of injectors are indeed on separate circuits, that's why there's two fuses, one for each bank.

yup ....gotta love the batch fire setup ... two circuits. Not one . I had it bite me in the *** when I was diagnosing my issues once ... bought a pulse tester and theat found the lil bugger. Made the other 3 crap out . Hardly would hold an idle ...farted through the TB the odd time ...adn any throttle input cut the motor .
