Looking for opinions on this combo for my 86 Z

World Products S/R Torquer 305 heads modified w/ better springs
and Crane alum. rockers
Summit 1103 cam and lifters.
Some sort of "ram" intake, I'm leaning towards a Super Ram, if I can find a used one for a decent price. I'll be running the stock TPI
untill then.
3" exhaust
Anybody running anything similar?


Also I just bought a chip burner. I'll probably spend the winter learning to burn my own chips.

 

I don't know the specs of the cam you mentioned, but I'm running the same heads on my 305, along with a Crane roller cam (spec'd at .432/.459 lift) and SLP runners and the car put down 223 hp and 277 ft/lbs to the rear wheels on a lean factory tune.

The summit cam is a little bigger than yours .442/.465, but it is a hyd flat tappet style, not a roller.

 

roller is the way to go, the superram is a good idea but you need the intake maniforld and a bigger throttle body if you want to get the most out of these parts.

 

a roller cam is just not in the budget right now too many other expenses associated with it.

 

If it was out of my budget, I'd wait and get it when I could afford it. - Are you using a factory roller block? - if so, then it's not that pricey. - if not then...well that kinda sucks. Jim Pace performance has some retro fit lifters for like $250 though... anyhow, I'd look for a bigger cam. I'd find atleast 480 lift. even on a 305. -

 

a good place to get a cam, rollers, lifters, rockerarms, is crane...but it's a little pricey, but you'll gain horse like crazy. I've got 1.6 roller rockers, .554 lift cam with the superram and a couple other goodies, just ask me if you need any questions about products...owe and by the way be careful when you are dealing with cams and lifters you have to measure out the length of your pushrods because your stock ones are a. too weak and b. they tend to be too big when you go roller, so you have to measure them out, which is a bitch..........
