poor idle 5 speed swap
I recently swaped out my 700r4 tranny for a T5 5 speed, in my 87 iroc-z with a TPI 350. As soon as I was finished with the swap the car has been idleing very poorly. It idles very low and jumps around, as if the car is trying not to stall. The car runs fine when I am driving it. I was wondering if I need to get a new prom for a 350 with a 5 speed. If anyone could help me I would appriciate it.
Thanks,
John

Frst thing I would do is look for a vacuum leak, maybe you knocked a line of or something like that while you were working. Also you might need to reset your minum idle setting since yours was set up for an auto.

A vacuum leak was the first thing I thaught of too, but I did not find any. How would I go about reseting my minum idle setting.

My car ran fine with the auto prom after my T5 swap. I burned a new chip set for a manual for the hell of it and it still ran the same.
- It'll run fine w/ the speedo reading wrong, mostly I was saying it needs to read. - It's better to be calibrated correctly, but it's not gonna make a noticable difference. - and yes, it should run fine, I'd say probably something's not hooked up properly. The computer needs all the inputs it supposed to have to function properly.

my speedo runs just fine, and this weekend I tried reseting my minimum air idle setting, and it still idle poorly. the car actually died a few times, so I had to turn the idle up a bit just to keep it running. I can get it to idle smoothly between 1000 and 1500 rpms, but that is way to high. Next I will have to check my tps.

I am prity sure that i didn't smash any wires, but this weekend i will have to give the whole motor a full over view to make sure.
