hp support of stock fuel pump
How much HP can the stock fuel pump support? Also what kind of cubic inches can it support? 425hp from a 413ci?

Get a Walbro and play it safe. :-)
No thirdgen fuel pumps are really good for true higher hp applications.

I'm going to upgrade my pump. My friend gave me a new AC Delco pump for a 454 truck. I was just wondering what the stock pump could support because my car seems to run lean on topend on the stock pump.
89TA383M5 - that 454 pump won't be any better than what you have, and if it's not a 454MPFI pump, it won't even feed you.
Most people seem to like the Walbro. I know of a few w/ the Carter hipo. The Holley pumps seems to be a good one also. - I probably wouldn't go much over 400hp on the stocker myself.
the stocker/stock replacement type is single in/out.

Thanks Shagwell for the info. Its a good thing I didnt put that pump in then. How much is a Walbro? I only see the Holley and Edelbrock ones on Summit. They go for $140-160. I'm pretty sure my car needs a pump since I have over 100k on the stock pump and the car was originaly a 305 and now its got a 413. Also you floor it and it starts to pull then it curves off. Also anytime I'm racing I can smell something "hot" and my exhaust gaskets keep burning out. Thats why I think I need to pump not to mention I sure hope my engine can put out over 400 horse which is the limitation of the stock pump acording to everone.

I was told from multiple sources that the stock fuel pumps are only reliable to 270 hp. I bought my walbro from autoperformanceengineering.com. I wouldn't waste time putting in any other fuel pump than the walbro 255lph high pressure pump. For some extra bucks, you'll probably never change the fuel pump again.

What sources told you that? I haven't heard anything that low...i've been always told around ~400. I'd love to know some truth to this before I kill my pistons.

I wouldnt trust a stocker at the 400hp level, especially old and used lol
Go with a walbro 304 or 340 and be done with it.
Easiest and chepaest way to go.
A lot of the pumps u see for sale for 120-160$ are a reboxed Walbro anyhow :-)

Thats a great question, also while someone is checking into this, would someone know if you are running a 425/450hp application, is the stock fuel line big enough, because I have seen an article where they upgraded the fuel lines also because of the HP increase, and they showed how you had to mod the pump to put a larger feed line in it. Just currious, thanks.

I'm really sure that pump will be a direct replacement. Just don't forget you will need a new pickup screen and possibly a new length of rubber hose. The hose must be rated for submerging in gasoline on the inside as well as the outside of the hose, because it goes inside the tank. www.autoperformanceengineering.com sells a complete installation kit for like $7. That kit includes both items above plus a few more things that you should replace too. My brother ordered the offset inlet for lt1 Walbro 255lph high pressure with install kit +shipping, it was $115 shipped.

My original factory pump was still supporting me at the 304RWHP level. However with my future mods in progress I changed it out to a AC Delco FE0114 fuel pump that is rated at 41 gallons per hour. That will support me up to at least 500HP.

Why spend big $$ on an engine and then lean it out (ka-boom)over less than $200. Stock fuel pumps aren't up to the task, that's why there's a market for these.
