Please help my dumb a$$

Well, cutting straight to it...I was working on my intake when I sparked my wratchet extension to the alternator. There were sparks. Now my car won't start. Could it be that I ruined the alternator? I did check all fuses both under dash and under hood, unless theres one I forgot about. Or could it be some other issue. I know it is getting fuel, just not spark. Any help is GREATLY GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you remember to unplug the negative battery terminal?? Always do so when working on it. Also if you have a voltmeter check the voltage across the battery when the key is in the acc. position to see if it took any damage. Check the fuses too.

Does anybody know if the fusible links are also located with the fuses under the dash?

It could have blown the fuse at the radiator support next to the coolant fan relay (both near the battery). Unplug the fuse from the weather pack connector and see if it is blown. The fuse has two big orange wires connected to it. One goes to the battery.

BTW, how do you know the injectors are giving it fuel? If you pulled a spark plug to see if the plug is wet with fuel then did you also test for spark at the same time??

I can't see how a short at the alternator would blow all those other fuses. If anything it'd be the fusible link between alternator and battery- that's it.

My first guess is you didn't assemble something correctly (no offense, just its a very common thing depending on what you were actually doing).

Is the fuel pump priming?

See, I was actually hoping that it wasnt something I didn't assemble correctly. I wouldn't put it past my self to do that. No offense taken. The pump is priming and I did check the schrader valve for fuel. There was some that came out. I checked everything I thought I took apart. I will have to throughly check it again though

I really do appreciate everyone's help here. There's nothing else quite like thirdgen.org. Can't say enough about it!

Check power at the alternator. You won't have any if it burned up a fusible link. Check the voltage at the battery as well just in case. Check to see if you're getting spark as well.
