10088113 heads with a tpi

I was just wondering if anyone would know what I would have to do to combat the egr provision on head # 10088113! I have a 91 z28 with 350 tpi.
I'm having the heads done now but I'm wondering if I made a mistake going with these heads. I'm also adding a set of headers, an edlebrock cam and some msd ignition components. Thanks for any and all input.

corvettes ran these heads and obviously they have EGR to pass emmissions. The corvettes have a tube that comes off the passenger exhaust manifold and runs into the intake base near the EGR valve. If you run Vortec heads or the AL L98 heads and you want to retain EGR you have to run an EGR tube from your headers into a corvette TPI base. Scoogin Dickey Performance sells a kit do do this with headers I believe but you will still need the corvette intake base.

I am using these heads right now also, better idea is to block off the EGR port and delete it from the PROM. Less hassle.

Actually if you are using the 113 heads you dont even need to block the EGR or delete it from the PROM. I have all my EGR in place and the stock chip on my LB9. The 113 head castings do not have an exhaust crossover, so the temp sensor at the base of the EGR valve never gets warm enough to signal the ECM to call for EGR function. I have been running my 113 heads for 3 summers now and never gotten an EGR code yet. Yes I stole this trick from WILLIE, just giving credit where it is due!

I plan on using these heads with my MR, so no EGR will be on the intake, so will there be a problem if this temp sensor is MIA? Stupid question, but I think its worth some input.

Re: 10088113 heads with a tpi

i was reading this and found that there is no way of NOT bringing this back from the dead.

I have a 92 z 350 TPI and it has the 113 heads off of a 91 vette and was wondering about this. How will it run without EGR? How did it work out for you Dave? any inputs or pictures are great!
thanks

Please use the and look for "corvette heads" or "L98 aluminum heads" and you'll find the numerous posts I have made regarding the three major things you need to do to use these heads on an f-body. I've also included pics of my setup.

Re: 10088113 heads with a tpi

I blocked off the EGR on my '92 L98 motor. As for the PROM, you locate the car's computer, pull it from the pass. side, and gently remove the PROM chip. You'll more than likely get it sent out and have someone work on the chip. That's what I did (deleted the Vehicle Anti-Theft System--VATS while at it).
Or you could buy a new pre-programmed PROM off the internet.
