Trouble starting after intake gasket install.
While my tranny was out being rebuilt we figured we would fix the oil leak around the intake. Everything we took off we put right back were it went and everything seemed to intall back in place perfectly fine. The only bad thing that happen was while intalling the tranny the motor was turned and the timing needed to be reset. MY dad thinks the timeing is close to right but the car will turnover but not start. It tries to but will not start up. Now my dad got into the car and patted on the gas really fast and got it to start acouple of time and it would stay on only if you keep hitting the gas soon as you let off the car will die back out. Seems like its looseing fuel. While he had it running the car was runny pretty rough. Before the tranny or intake was takin off 3 months ago the car ran perfectly smooth.
You guys got anything we can try we are still trying to learn these TPI motors.

Hopeing its not the injectors or something wrong with the intake gasket.

Get some starter fluid and while the engine is running (hitting gas) spray the starter fluid around vaccum hoses etc. if the rpm's increase you know where you have a leak. But I had the same problem awhile ago and actually did the same thing replace intake manifold gasket but my problem was that I didnt read my firing order correctly and installed the wires on the cap incorrectly, might wanna check that out to be sure.

Your distributor is out 180*. From what I can tell. If it ran fine before you took the intake and what not apart, and now all the sudden it wont start back up, it's more than likely an accident during reinstallation of parts. Get a manual for the car, and check the distrubtor again. Good luck.
This is why its good to mark the position of your distributor before you remove it. Try moving it and see if you can get it started, if not you will probably need to pull it and reinstall.
Also would be good to ensure all the vacuum lines are plugged in and that there are no gaps between the runners and manifold anywhere.

pull the dissy and the no one plug turn the motor over manually at the crank.
have someone put there finger over the plug hole and as soon as you feel air trying to push past your finger you comming up on no 1
you should be turning motor clockwise. No one should be at about 5 oclock. work the dissy in untill the tip of the rotor is just under the no one plug on the cap. mark the base of the dissy to correspond with no one.
put it back together and beat it like you know how to rebuild it.
