Got a good one for you guys
1987 firebird 350, when cold, Can idle but u hit the gas and its as if your not even opening the throttle blades, Until it backfires threw the intake and starts revving up. DOES Not happen when warm, Does not happen with MAF unplugged, And when u hit the gas Generally even with it running rich and revving fine it has no power, or maybe the power of like 3 cylinders IMO
Its running PIG rich, No black smoke its just really rich because of the MAF unplugged most of the time because its a pain to let it warm up then plug it in Your gonna laugh when i tell you the HC from the emmissions test Sposed to be 2.00, IT got a 75. something
WHen i was at a garage the other day, I had the base timing set, BUt when i was there i also learned that I only had 4000 volts of spark going to cyn 6 +8, Causing a nice Misfire ( runs kinda rough) i replaced rotor + cap and wires are known to be good NOt sure if this could have anything to do with the backfiring? ALso replaced the 2 plugs in those cylinders thinking they were fouled
It has thrown a EST code in the past when we checked the codes, But what kept on popping up on the scanner was a 36? i think MAF burn-of relay almost immediality after you would clear the code
I replaced the Burn of with a known good relau and it still popped the code
Just looking for any ideas at all, im taking it back to my Shop on tuesday but would prefer to resolve this ASAP so i can have time to resolve other issues withing next week
Thanks guys

Just took it out for a cruise, Reset ecm and Only pops for about 2 mins then is fine, BUT falls on its face at 3000 rpm ODD i thought even for a tpi? Im thinking clogged cat atm, Ses light didnt come on either so i assume there isnt anything horribly wrong besides the misfires i have in 6 and 8

On mine, as soon as I disconnected to MAF, it worked better but not as good as before, after changing the MAF itself, everything was back to normal...
