if u are sure its number five, check under the cap at number five for anything out of the ordinary, also carefully look at the plug to make sure it isnt cracked from putting it in. to check for any odd arching happening start the engine when its dark and see if u can see anything weird going on. I guess also make sure the wire is fully on both terminals (at the cap and at the plug.)

well i have checked from the distibutor and it does look alright but every time i pull it off i really get shocked. Does that have anything to do with the problem? There are no cracks on the plug. Could it be a bad injector? How would i tell if it is?

thanks

It has new wires as of last night, and there are no visible cracks anywhere on the cap. What do you mean by firing order?

The wires are in the right order, i just double checked. For some odd reason whenever i go to take off spark plug wire number 5 from the distibutor cap it shocks the crap out of me. This wire is the only one that does it and its the one misfiring. What would be the cause of this?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A BREAK IN THE WIRE. I WOULD JUST ATTACH AN OLD WIRE IN THAT SPOT TO TEST IF THE WIRE IS BROKEN.

when i had the old wires in it did the same thing, so i bought the new wires and plugs trying to solve the problem and it did nothing. I just noticed last night when i checked for cracks(which there were none) on the distributor that #5 shocks me when i go to pull it off and none of the others do. What would be causing this?

How much grease is on your plug and wire? What does the plug look like? Condition it is in, not brand name. Were the plugs taylored by you or the factory? Did you pull the boot out of place? Do you have headers? How close is the wire to the exhaust manifold? Answer these questions and your problems should be solved on the ignition end.

well the plugs and wires are brand new and look good. i also checked all of the wires to make sure all were secure....and today i just put new distributor cap on it an wire #5 still shocks me when i touch from dist. cap....do you think it could be a clogged injector?

I think it is probally a cracked distributer cap. Electrons don't need a lot of room to squeeze through. It could be a crack so minor that you couldn't possibly see it, but being shocked constantly, even with new plug wires and plugs indicates a problem with the cap

You'd think you just like getting zapped with 50 000 volts or something, LOL

IS THE DISTRIBUTOR THE OLDER BIGGER STYLE? IF NOT, MAYBE THE COIL WIRE TO THE CAP IS CRAP.

ok so i have replaced the plugs, wires, and distributor cap. last night i did a compression chack on all of the cylinders and they are all good...and plug 5 seemed like it is getting fuel but still missing...now should i start looking internaly like valves or even cam. the guy that i bought it from told me he put a larger cam in it and it may be too big for the car...could this cause a misfire?

thanks to all who have helped

so could a larger cam cause a misfire or engine jolt that feels like misfire?
canged injector and looked at cam lobes, they looked fine.
