Mystery problem
For the past 3 weeks or so my car has not been running and I havent been able to figure it out yet. It all started with the car stalling out intermittently and then starting back up after it sat for awhile then eventually it died and didnt start back up.
I checked for fuel I can smell gas after I try to crank it for awhile and gas comes ou the schrader valve on the fuel rail.
I checked it for spark by trying to start it with starting fluid to no affect.
I did a search on here and found out that that symptom is usually the Ignition Control Module, so I took it out and went down to autozone and had it tested they tested it twice and it came back good both times.
I then thought it may be the Ignition coil itself so I replaced that and no effect. so I then replace the Pickup coil on the distributor and it still isnt starting....I checked it for spark just now after replacing the pickup coil and it is getting spark to the plugs....
I have no other ideas what it could possibly be and I could really use some help in diagnosing this problem. Thanks.

Did you pull the distributer out, and crank the motor? Maybe its off 180 degrees?
I say get a fuel pressure guage on that fule rail and test that out. Pull the #1 wire off and crank the motor, and hold the spark plug up to some metal. See if it sparks. If your getting good fuel pressure and good spark....it should fire.

We didnt try to crank it with the distributor out and we checked for spark and it is getting spark and it is getting fuel like i said cause we can smell gas after we try to start it a few times and i checked the scgrader valve and fuel does squirt out.

You need to get an accurate fuel pressue reading,I suggest that you hook up a fuel pressure gage and go from there.I know you can see fuel coming from the valve, but is it enough?
Alos do not rely on autozone on certain things,I had a friend have his ignition module checked 2 times, and they said it was good, and that ended up being the problem.

Any update on this problem? I have same exact trouble. I had an intermittant starting problem when warm, pulled all 8 injectors had them cleaned & flow checked, put them back in & no start. I found a bad ICN & replaced it with the original AC Delco unit which tested good at Autozone ( same place that tested Accel unit & it failed) but still have same problem. No start 42 psi fuel presure & spark tester says spark. Will not fire even with starting fluid!!!

Yes I found the problem after replacing all the ignition parts and testing all the injectors. The problem was the connector that connects the pickup coil to the control module on the top it was enclosed in plastic but on the bottom it was open and it was causing the metal butt end of the connector to short out on the base of the distributor, wrapped it in some electrical tape and it fired right up.
