general injector question

I've learned a lot about injectors over the last few weeks since 3 went bad on my stock 89 350 GTA- mainly that I've got a lot of options. Too much fuel and too little fuel is bad, and it's tricky, as well as controversial, as to which injectors will give you the right flow rate, and if the injector will physically fit in and plug into your stock harness.

I'm just wondering why I never saw discussed just picking up a set at the local autoparts store. I can get GP Sorensen, Borg Warner, or Kem (?) injectors all for about $50 a piece, which isn't that far off from SVO, Accel, etc... injectors.

Are these replacements inferior in any way? Are they of the same poor design of the multec injector?

thanks in advance for any insight...

stop

do you want to pay 400 at an autoparts store or 300 at summit

that was a very hard decision for me because I really like the owner of Joes Generic parts store and wanted him to have my 100 buck

no really everyone on this board tend to go with the SVO's

I just don't want to get the wrong plugs.

It seems there's not an "exact" SVO replacement for the stock 350 - that one SVO may be too small, and the other may be too big. (19 vs. 24 I think) Although I see there is a "21.5" out there at this five0 motorsport place but you need adaptors to plug them in and they run over 300 I think. Anyway, I'm probably going to get those "21.5"s since they are the closest. I read the best results are gotten with using stock sized injectors with more pressure so I wanted to try that. (I didn't want to bother reprogramming my ECU at this point)

I guess my point was that if the price was close and the quality was the same, and they would be a perfect fit without needing adaptor plugs maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea? I'm obviously not into spending more money if possible.

Just trying to be open minded about it, I was also thinking of picking up a used LS1 set but I've also heard different opinions as to whether or not these will give too much fuel.

If you do anything used....go with LT1 injectors. I have a set on my 305 TPI and they are a 24# injector.

while you are doing the injectors put an adjustable fuel preasure regulator

this way you can adjust the fuel to the rail to compesate for the size of the injector

you will find that the measurement on most injector brands are a bit different.

I put the accell 21 lbs injectors in my 305 that calls for 19 pounders.

the air fuel mixture can also be tuned by the program in the prom= HP

you can also make the motor get more air- via porting and bigger components= HP

better spark like a 6al with more fuel= HP

Will SVO injectors plug into stock harness?

Will I need a wiring adaptor to use Ford injectors? (in particular, the 24lb ones on the Summit, EV1) How about other ones (LS1, LT1, etc...)

Also, is flowmatched/blueprinted worth it for the extra cost?

thanks,
-Dan

24lb injectors from an LT1 are a great choice. I have a set if you're interested.
