what does everyone think of this setup?

as of now this is the idea i have

im planning on running the LT4 Hotcam which is 218/228 with .525/.525 lift with 1.6 rockers. im also planning on getting some roller rockers instead of the stock stamped stealies. for now the heads will be stock, so they wont flow ****, but im just wanting the car running and i may just leave them stock if im happy with it. compression wont be much more than 9.3:1. im gonna go with probably a 2500ish stall, id like to keep it happy on the street since our track is closed down, i dont see much need in a huge stall when i wont get to use it much. im thinking of something like this kit

Eagle Street and Strip Rotating Assemblies: ESP-B13005E030 - summitracing.com

but people are telling me i need to be running H beam rods and not I beams. seems to me like the people that are telling me to get H beams are also the ones than have a million and one mods and are running low 13s.

basically my goal is a 13.0 on motor at our elevation and with our bad air. i realize its going to take some head work to get to that but like i say right now im more into getting it running. im also not worried about cost, i built and blew up the motor with stock parts and the LT4 hot cam in less than 20 miles, i dont want to go through this again so once it goes in i dont plan on pulling it, ill just pray i dont let something go again. any thoughts?

they have a guy at our local track running 13.0 with a c4 vette.
he has edlbrock performers, LT4 hot cam, 1.6 RR. ported base with ported SLP. and 308 gears. were at low elevation and it was cool out that night.

with the stroker motor and some good heads i think you can do it. pennding on how far up you really are.

You want a Hotcam using an HSR and stock heads? Good luck on that 13.0

Read my sig and re-think what you have planned. I've never tracked my car yet but I'm close to 13.0

everything. what happened was, i pulled the motor to put the cam in and i figured i might as well put in new bearings and everything. i ended up putting in some hyper pistons, stock rods, stock turned crank. i *think* what happened was the guy who built it (me) screwed up big time. i havent pulled the motor because of school and work and just being lazy.

i said my goal was a 13.0, never did i say that was my goal with stock heads.

i guess i should have mentioned that our elevation is about 3500ft (i think) but our air is terrible. i have NEVER raced on a day where DA was less than 5500ft, and have raced on days where DA was over 7000ft. my best was a 14.88 lifting at the 1000ft mark (bracket racing) which calculated for altitude is a 14.2x

Ok so what's the story on the motor explosion? If you're taking the car apart you might as well port the heads that's where you're going to get alot of your gains. You're running stock TPI and trying to hit a 13.0 in bad weather? I'm conused there's just not alot of info here.

It's poorly written, you have to take some information from his thread and some information from his signature to try to get it all worked out. Basically he wants to run a StealthRam, HotCam+1.6, and stock heads combo with a higher stall.

I don't see 13.0's in his future. The cam and the intake are well matched, but the heads, which figuratively speaking are the "Go between" for those two items, are crap. Maybe 13 flat with a head swap, exhaust and *PROM WORK*

.... god I hate stealthram cars.

I think he can do a 13 oh with what he picked out. Assuming he has stock L98 heads that flow around 198 cfm's = 198*.2527*8=400 hp potential. With the stealthram, hot cam, a 2800 stall and at least a 3.23 gear he should get there.

I would be very impressed especially through a stock exhaust since no exhaust mods were mentioned

Heads is where the power is at. I don't see 13.0's with stock heads.
