could be a few things. Start with fuel preasure . Prime up the pump and check the preasure on the rail. . When was the last time you did a tune up ? You need to put more info in your sig to let us know what your car is ...i.e year .. motor , tranny , etc .

Its a 86 IROC with a 89 350 (and all that gos with) 700R4 trans, fuel pres is at 45.2 car running W/out vac. line, all sensors are new (I mean ALL) new injectors, computer & chip (A/C) are new too (only about 10 miles on the whole motor and sensors) It could need spark plugs, had some fuel issues when first got it running. Sorry about lack of info on first post.

I've had the very same problem. Changed the Fuel Reg and it was 100% better. I also had 40 PSI while running, but only while running, once the car was stoped it was gone, and the prime on ignition just went straight through, not holding pressure, so only after cranking and cranking it got enough pressure to fire. I'd look at that first.

Well that's heaps of pressure and holding on for a good amount of time also.

That's strange now.

I know it might seem silly to mention this, but how is the general tune of the engine? I know you mentioned it has all new sensors but A bad plug could cause it, so could a bad ignition lead. Really any ignition component could. A crack in the cap or dirty rotor.

Have all these been checked?

Once we know the basic's then you go deeper.

Check your fuel pressure before starting the car for the first time of the day (key on, engine off). I'm thinking fuel pump relay also - the pump may be running off the oil pressure switch causing the extended cranking until there's enough oil pressure built up.

How about the ignition module in the dist. also check pickup coil. I had same problem & found this to be the solution. If you have a noid light you can check to see if injectors are working while long cranking is going on.

Francis: Plugs and wires need to be changed (so I will do that) cap, rotor are new.
Fuel pres. the return line had some crap stuck in it, got that out and adjusted it to 43.5 still held it about 30min. (1 1/2 is a typo)

8492bird: at this time the secondary oil pres. switch is disconnected because the pump would run after the car was shut off, so the relay is the only way the pump will run.

TABOO: The module is new but the pick up is not, so I will look into it. Injectors are firing while cranking.

Thanks guys, I have to go look at some stuff right now,
joe
