HUGE!!! MEGA-Ported TPI! Gaskets???
I just received my mega-ported TPI plenum & SLP hogged out runners back from Mike Graycar of 'Corvette-Plenum'. They are simply beautiful!!! He even matched the SLP's to fit onto the Edelbrock lower intake.
What I had forgotten to ask him when I sent them off, is where do I get a gasket set that's engineered for heavy porting?? Anyone have any quick ideas off the top of their heads????
These are works of art. I'm going to clear coat them this week before installing them. I was really disapointed in the SLP's when I received them from the factory. The fit and finish was horrible; the holes didn't even line up with gaskets and the holes were crookedly cut and with flashing debris. Car Craft is supposed to be posting dyno and flow numbers sometime in the next few months on the set they picked up for one of their 3rd Gen projects.
I could go on & on about these, but it's the gasket info I need ASAP!

I used the Mr. Gasket #146s (1.75") on my ported plenum (by Mike) and ported lower Edelbrock base and they worked great. You can get them at Summit Racing. Just search for 146.
PS; Edited with correct PN. Confused PN with dia.

Mike did mine too, and then I sent them to Rick Thrasher for polishing...they
are works of art! You cut your own gaskets with a very sharp X-acto knife.

Re: Mega Port Plenum and Gaskets....
Thanks for the gasket response! I want to put them on my tired L98 first to get a better idea/comparison of stock before I transfer the complete intake on a new engine.
I'll peruse the pic instructions and see If I can post some shots right away; it is completely UNBELIEVABLE to me, considering I spent 6 hours initially hand porting the plenum and thought that was great...... Nitro

Re: HUGE!!! MEGA-Ported TPI! Gaskets???
.........A little late here, but thanks for the help with the new plenum gaskets. I finally got around to doing some long awaited wrenching on my IROC. I really wanted to test the beautiful plenum Graycar set me up with, so I left the factory manifold and runners on the engine so I could do a set of drivetrain pulls.
Sure enough; with 4 solid pulls, I showed an even 13 more horsepower to the rear wheels and a chunk of torque. Interestingly, not only did the extra ponies come in a heak of a lot sooner, but the worn out engine pulled strong just past 6000 rpm (on the factory tach) before starting to drop off any power. That's a pretty big impressive boost to the power band!
I don't know if Mike Graycar has ever received the dyno numbers he was promised by 'Car-Craft' Magazine? for the article they were doing on his intake work. If they havn't; I'll probably need to do another set of pulls with the complete intake before the new engine goes in.
Anyone else have any measurable info off the TPI experimentations they've done?????????
Sincerely, Nitro-Nicky
