Well, the only moving parts on the intake would be the injectors. When they open and close, they're known to tick. Mine are loud as heck! ...but not sure why it would've started all of a sudden. Any chance it's been doin' it for awhile and you didn't notice?

it might be an exhaust leak right at the head. mine did the same thing.
once it warms up, put your hand over the exhaust manifold. feel for the air puffing out.
Goodluck,
Mike

after taking a closer look at the problem it does seem to be coming from the injectors/ intake manifold area and when you feel the injectors you can feel the ticking vibrating them does ne one have ne help with this or ideas on how to fix it would it be possible to just try the fuel injector cleaner? or would that mess it up more?

id have a VIC performed on your car... chances are its all stock right? it will help your car out alot... i did a VIC on my 383 and it runs a lot smoother and feels more powerful (car sat for 2 years and has a 383 from 2000 in it)

ill look exactly what the stuff was when im at work today,
but you basically unplug the fuel pump, and hook up a bottle filled with this fluid right at the fuel pressure regulator i believe it was.... and let the car idle running off that until the bottle is empty (about 4 minutes) then i hooked back up the fuel pump then i got some intake cleaner, cleaned the throttle body and sprayed it inside the manifold with the engine running and revving it while doing so (dont overkill) and then i put some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank.
but, my motor was built in 2000... and sat for 2 years in a driveway, it ran fine and strong its just the other day i decided to see if it would make a noticeable difference in my car....
and right when i started it it idled different, had better throttle response and has a noticeable power increase.
