Its not that I lost low end torque...i just want a bit more......my car lags until about 2000 rpm, and then rips open at about 2500....Im not sure if thats normal, but what can I do increase it?
I have headers on order, and by searching on this site it seems as if when I add them Im going to lose even more bottom end torque. I hope this isnt the case.
One last thing...Could it be because I have 2.73 gears, and its creating an illusion that I dont have low end torque?

its like that cause you have no gear out back get your hands on a3.42 rear end there goes the lag you feel, caution more gear will cause you to spin more off the line.

Install a looser converter. Something around 24-2800 stall would be good. The 2.73's don't help the situation either. Your around town gas mileage will suffer a bit.
When i had my tranny put in i went with a 2200 converter. I have a 2.93 posi sitting in my garage. I wonder if that will help.
Oh yeah...and the hooker 2055 i ordered going to make things worse?

2200 RPM should be enough stall to get you out of the hole OK, but I wouldn't bother with 2.93 gears, it isn't enough difference to matter. Going with either 3.42 or 3.73 would be about right for an auto in these cars. However, theres probably something wrong if your car is lagging to 2000 rpm, it should shoot right up to the stall of the convertor when you punch the gas. I'd check into fuel or spark as a culprit for your power loss.
Are these headers going to take away for the low end and add to the top??
I found after I installed my Hedman 68481's the car
just performed better in every way. Idle, cruise, and
WOT. I wouldnt say it takes away low end TQ, but
helps the motor breathe quickly to the point where
your top end would carry you on.
You will be pleased after you get those
cast iron heat sinks off your engine..

Mine sure as heck never lugged... It had 3.23's though. More gear will definitely help.Originally Posted by rv1890

Off idle WOT would shred the rear tires in my iroc
BTW headers wont kill your low end. Seems like you might have some kind of problem if your l98 is 'lagging' under 2.5k rpms. It will however make peak power between 2500-4500 so maybe thats the case. How do your plugs look?
