PULSATOR on my 92 formula?

Im having fuel pressure problems. My car cant maintain consistent FP settings.

It jumps from 15#s to 42#s.

I heard it may be the pulsator? What is a pulsator, what does it look like, does my car have it, how much is it?
thanks

The pulsator is what connect the fuel pump to the fuel line in the tank. It is just a rubber piece w/ two inlets for the fuel line. It is possible that it may be lose and not sealing correctly.

I recently replaced my fp and did tryed to get the pick up closer to the bottom of the tank. In doing so, the pulsator was not sealing enough which in turn caused zero fuel pressure.

To be honest w/ you, seeing that a fp replacement is my most unfavorable job out of anything on this car (until I cut a access hole above my fuel tank ) I would replace the pump and isolator together. Furthermore, get one of those Walboro pumps. They are not that expensive. Check em out!

When you install a new fuel pump just leave the pulsator OFF. Don't put it back on. It is not worth the risk and you do not need it.

I would go with the $93 one. For 10 bucks more, it would be a good investment esp if you want to run a small NOS kit.

If you look at the link I posted, under the FAQ's it says to just replace the pulsator with a piece of HIGH PRESSURE fuel line and some hose clamps.

Good luck and have fun w/ the fuel tank removal. Just try not to rush it and take your time.

The hose I ignored in my Borg-Warner pump kit had hose clamps that were of the old GM OEM style.. where you release tension on them by squeezing 'em with pliers. The up-side of those suckers is that they don't need to be re-tightened after a while, they do it on their own. Just something to keep in mind if the Walbro unit comes with these clamps- don't chuck them for the screw type.
