Hi All,

I have a quick question….could someone tell me if 1990 – 1992 TBI uses the exact same harness and computer as the 1990 – 1992 TPI system, aside from the fact the TPI harness has 3 extra injector plugs on each side and a different chip?

It seems like I read somewhere that on TBI if you swap out the chip and modify the injector wiring you could adapt that to the TPI system.

Correct me if I’m wrong please…..

The wire harness can be modified, one of the Sponcers does it, does not use the stock TBI ECM

im running my hsr with a tbi harness and computer, just added injector plugs, and changed tps and mat plug. you will need to make your own chip. but i have got my car to run pretty darn good like this.

 

You most certainly can adapt a TBI harness to run a TPI engine and computer. That's the way my dad does it when he converts TBI's to TPI. I think there's a tech article on it, and if not, there has to be a ton of posts in the TPI or General forum. Its a pretty common topic.

 

Good to know, seems like I have a couple options now. EFI Connection will also make you a custom harness if you would like.

 

Thanks everyone, I already have a custom TPI harness, chip and computer from TPI parts......having trouble getting it to run right....I was toying with the idea of cutting my losses and going to TBI or carburator since it's a little easier to mess with.

I wanted to leave my options open with whatever I decide (keep TPI, go TBI or carb)

I had my tbi harness converted by tpiparts.net. They did a great job and looks like a factory tpi harness.

 

Sounds like you just need tunning
