cammed 383, running rough, miss at idle/cruise
I just had a 383 built and put into my 1989 TPI MAF formula 350 specs are
Lunati voodoo cam : 270/278 advertised duration .515/.530 lift
Scat rotating 383 assembly
Stock heads
stock intake
Heddman Headers
True dual sidepipes
New cap & rotor (just replaced)
New wires (tested OK)
new plugs
new IAC (tested OK)
New TPS (tested OK)
New Dist. (tested Ok)
No Smog P.
No Cats.
TB bypass
Open Element Filter
Stock Chip
88' Corvette Bosch Injectors (tested ok)
Symptoms:
Cold start stall unless given gas, Rough idle at low rpms, and cruise conditions
Seems to make a "puffing" noise from the pipes, there are no indications of intake or header leaks, EGR valve is fine and working, however at WOT it seems to run fine, i installed a wideband AFR gauge, when coming to a stop the ratio dips off the gauge and sometimes will stall at a light, other times it may not stall but will run down at lean for a second or two before jumping back up - crusing everytime it sputters or misses it seems to drop to lean really quick. What could cause this? revving and WOT don't run anywhere close to lean so im unsure what could force this condition..could the chip simply be that inadequate?

Re: cammed 383, running rough, miss at idle/cruise
Ive got a 88 tpi 383 i just built and it ran the same way, somone told me i needed a custom burned chip for it. Im ordering one soon from a company called motorvation. Ill let you now how it goes. But first i need to figure out what size the stock injectors and stock throttle bodies are so i can finish filling out the sheet they sent me.

yeah there is no way the stock computer will be able to compensate for a cam at idle
